ABOUT US - INSIDE OUT..
emmaus community welfare fund (ecomwel) is a registered society under the tamil nadu societies registration act, based in chennai and serving communities since 1981.
ecomwel was born out of compassion and conviction. our early years were dedicated to standing beside persons affected by leprosy — restoring health, dignity, and hope. over time, our journey widened. the call of the poor, the voiceless, the displaced, the vulnerable women, the rural and tribal communities drew us into deeper engagement. what began as care evolved into commitment — a lifelong commitment to justice, equity, and human dignity.
at the heart of ecomwel lies an unwavering spirit: we stand by the poor and the needy, irrespective of age, caste, gender, religion, or any other diversity. we do not see vulnerability as weakness; we recognise strength waiting to be affirmed. every intervention we make is a step towards self-reliance.

ECOMWEL believes that poverty is the root for low quality of lives. Addressing poverty is entrenched with complexities and challenges, however the commitment to social change is the push factor for ECOMWEL to work among the Most in Need - poor and marginalized. ECOMWEL believes that to reduce poverty and inequalities is through offering basic support services ( Immediate need response )creating awareness, opportunities and enabling individuals to discover their inner strengths and potentials for change ( power within ) , mobilizing communities of poor and marginalized into social groups ( power With) to take decisions to bring in change in their lives at individual and community level ( power to) towards sustainable living embedded with values of Justice , peace and equality .
